What are the best travel coffee mugs? At minimal, a good coffee travel mug should keep my coffee warm enough from first sip to last, should fit well in my vehicle cup holder, be easy and comfortable to drink from without difficult slides, levers, buttons, etc.; is nearly impossible to drip or leak and is easy to clean. One other feature that I feel is a must for me is a BPA-free (Bisphenol A) container. Since I now have a choice to drink from mugs that don’t have this toxin, I choose to go BPA-free. This is really only something to look for when purchasing a polycarbonate plastic-type mug, not a worry with stainless steel unless it is a stainless steel mug lined with plastic.

Below are the top rated travel coffee mugs by Thermos, Contigo, Copco, Aladdin, Oxo, Trudeau and Grosche Brands. They range in price from $10-$30. The less expensive travel mugs are made from plastic, but still very worthy and functional while the more expensive mugs are made from stainless steel. The Thermos 16-Ounce Leak-Proof Travel Coffee Mug (E10500) is the most expensive on the list. It has exterior and interior 18/8 stainless steel walls with a vacuum space between the two to maintain your beverage temperature with very little change.

I have been satisfied with most of my Thermos brand coffee mugs. Their main job is making thermal containers so I would hope they would do it right. If one of your must-haves in a coffee mug is to keep your coffee hot from start to finish then I would recommend looking for double-walled mugs with vacuum insulation which are best at keeping liquids hot. Most, if not all Thermos brand mugs are double-walled. The Contigo insulated mug also is a good choice. It also has double wall insulation and will keep your beverages hot for 4 hours, cold for up to 12 hours. What’s unique about the Contigo mug is the autoseal lid which is 100% leak-proof. To sip, you press a button and then release it when you are done which automatically seals the lid. Seams to work pretty well according to users.

Using Coffee Travel Mugs in Space

Sometimes it is challenging to drink coffee while traveling down the road, but at least it is not as difficult as drinking your morning cup of coffee while in space. I wonder how much their specialized travel mug cost?
