In the 1840’s, the French introduced the first balance brewers and the vac pot as well as the idea of a press pot and the plunging brewing system. During the early 1900’s, the popularity of the press pot called “Cafeolette” was expanding in sales at the local grocery stores including french press coffee beans. Melior introduced the first model in the 1930’s. It was made with a stainless steel filter and a metal body. Soon after, they introduced a model reminiscent of Bodum’s current day “Chambord” line. They called it reminiscent because Bodum purchased the design. In the 1970’s, the Bodum company began manufacturing plastic, (variety of colors) glass and metal press pots. In the 1980’s, as the popularity of the press pot blossomed, so did the profits. At that time, Bodum purchased the “Chambord” line, and decided to create an appealing classical design press pot. coleman coffee makers
